The project Design Briefs and Competitions was a project I did throughout my 3rd year of university. I was required to respond to ISTD’s brief “Not Just Fleuron’s”, where we were asked to portray plants in their broadest possible way. The way I went about tackling this brief was to go into depth about the different elements of a Japanese garden, explaining their spiritual and cultural meanings. My choice of portraying this information was a typographic booklet that explores the line between European and Japanese styles of design.
